Trump praises Trudeau during Canada-U.S. meeting
During a recent Canada-U.S. meeting, President Trump expressed his satisfaction with the progress made, calling it a “step up” in the relationship between the two countries. Both sides seemed content with the outcome of the meeting and have agreed to continue discussions.
At an event for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, Trump was asked about his previous use of the title “governor” to refer to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trump responded by stating that he had not yet referred to him as “Governor Carney,” but that he had enjoyed his interactions with Trudeau.
Trump went on to praise Trudeau, stating that he had watched him in debates and thought he did “terrifically.” He described Trudeau as a nice man and expressed that they had a great meeting that day.
Trump emphasized the strength of the relationship between the two leaders, stating, “I think the relationship’s going to be very strong.” Overall, Trump’s comments reflected a positive outlook on the future of U.S.-Canada relations.
