Regina’s Kramer IMAX only theatre in Canada to screen re-release of Interstellar
The Saskatchewan Science Centre’s Kramer IMAX Theatre to Screen Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar”
The Kramer IMAX Theatre at the Saskatchewan Science Centre is set to be the exclusive Canadian location for the re-release of Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed sci-fi epic, “Interstellar.”
Originally released on November 7, 2014, the film was a critical success and even won the Oscar for best achievements in visual effects.
“Interstellar” is a gripping tale set in a dystopian future, following a team of astronauts on a mission to find a new habitable planet for humanity as Earth faces devastation from blight and famine.
In celebration of its 10th anniversary, IMAX theatres across North America will bring back the film for audiences to enjoy once again.
Chief Operating Officer Ryan Holota shared, “We’ve had just a ton of interest from people in Regina, but I know that we’ve already got people from Calgary and Winnipeg that [have] phoned to buy tickets, that are going to come to the theater to watch this movie on film.”
The Kramer IMAX Theatre is one of only 30 IMAX locations worldwide, drawing a diverse crowd that sometimes includes visitors from different continents.
Recent renovations in 2023 have upgraded the theatre’s projectors, sound system, screen, and seating, with support from a joint federal/provincial grant.
While the theatre now features digital laser projection, it still maintains its original IMAX 15/70 mm film projector from its opening in 1991, which will be used for the re-release of “Interstellar.”
Holota emphasized the unique appeal of the Kramer IMAX Theatre and its connection to the attached science centre, offering an enriching experience for moviegoers while supporting a local charity’s mission to inspire scientific curiosity.
Tickets for the screenings of “Interstellar” at the Kramer IMAX Theatre are now available for purchase, with the film scheduled to run from December 6 onwards.
