Remains found at lake northeast of Halifax confirmed to be missing boater

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service has confirmed that the remains found at a lake near Halifax last month belong to a boater who went missing in April. The 58-year-old man from Truro tragically did not make it back to shore after his boat capsized.

According to reports from CBC News, the RCMP received a call on April 10 about a capsized boat on Cousins Lake. Two men were in the boat when it struck something in the water. One man, aged 53, managed to swim to shore and call for help at 3:25 p.m. Unfortunately, the search for the other boater, the 58-year-old man from Truro, was unsuccessful.

On May 4, the man’s loved ones visited the lake and discovered human remains. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service later confirmed that the remains belonged to the missing boater. Police have stated that the man’s death is not considered suspicious.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers that can arise while boating and the importance of taking necessary precautions to ensure safety on the water. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the boater during this difficult time.
