Remains found in woods of Kings County identified as camper
RCMP say they have identified human remains found late last year in the woods of Kings County as a man who had recently returned to Nova Scotia from Ontario.
Cpl. Chris Marshall said the 47-year-old man had returned to the province in 2022, but did not stay in regular contact with family or friends.
The last contact he had with anyone was mid-July, when he said he was going camping.
His remains were discovered on Nov. 24 by people walking on a trail deep in the woods of Russia Road near Black Rock.
The man had not been reported as missing because of his infrequent contact with others.
“He just fell in and out of contact with people, so it wasn’t uncommon for him not to be in contact with folks,” Marshall said.
He said the man did not own the land on which he was found.
The death is not considered suspicious. While the exact cause of death could not be determined, there were no signs of foul play.
