Rep. Jared Moskowitz declares the DOGE Caucus ‘dead’

Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., who was the first Democrat to join the Congressional DOGE caucus, recently declared the group “dead” in an interview with Politico. According to Moskowitz, the DOGE caucus has not been active for months, with only two meetings held in the past five months. He criticized the lack of involvement in DOGE-related activities, which were primarily led by Elon Musk without any input from the caucus.

Moskowitz went on to describe the DOGE initiative as a “complete failure” that has not resulted in any improvements or efficiencies. Despite his negative assessment, caucus co-chair Rep. Aaron Bean, R-Fla., expressed a different perspective, stating that the group is still in its early stages and working towards enacting long-term changes that will benefit the American people.

The House DOGE Caucus, co-chaired by Bean, Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, and Rep. Blake Moore, R-Utah, aims to codify critical reforms and introduce legislation that will generate savings for taxpayers. However, Moskowitz indicated that the congressional chairs had promised greater involvement in DOGE decisions, which did not materialize.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk, the driving force behind the DOGE initiative, recently announced that he would be reducing his time allocation to the project now that it is established. Musk’s efforts to expose government waste, fraud, and abuse have garnered attention, but he is now stepping back to focus on other priorities.

In conclusion, while the DOGE caucus faces challenges and criticism from some members like Moskowitz, there is still optimism from others like Bean about the potential impact of the initiative. As the debate continues within Congress, the future of the DOGE initiative remains uncertain.
