Rep. Jodey Arrington says GOP budget bill will usher in ‘golden age’

Bloated Bureaucracy and Rising Debt Threaten Trump’s Economic Agenda, Says House Republican

President Donald Trump’s vision of an economic “golden age” is being hindered by bloated bureaucracy and escalating debt, according to Rep. Jodey Arrington, a Texas Republican urging his colleagues to take bold action to advance Trump’s America First policies through a budget reconciliation bill.

Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” Rep. Arrington expressed deep concerns about the unchecked government spending and the mounting national debt, which he previously labeled as “the greatest threat to our country and our children’s future.”

As the chair of the House Budget Committee, Arrington emphasized the need for political courage to address the excessive bureaucracy and the staggering $2 trillion annual deficit that is projected to double, with interest payments surpassing national defense and Medicare expenditures.

Highlighting the critical nature of the situation, Arrington warned that the current juncture is pivotal for America’s economic future.

“The wheels are coming off the wagon,” he underscored. “We can’t achieve the president’s ambitious economic growth, nor usher in a new golden age. In fact, we are at risk of a sovereign debt crisis if we fail to address the unsustainable deficits and national debt.”

Arrington proposed that enacting the pro-growth measures outlined in the budget reconciliation bill, coupled with deficit reduction and entitlement reforms, could help stabilize the debt-to-GDP ratio and curb the deficit trajectory.

“By adhering to the blueprint laid out in the budget resolution, we can restore fiscal well-being,” he asserted, without delving into the specifics of the bill’s provisions.

GOP Counters DNC’s Accusations of Endangering Medicaid in Budget Bill

Democrats have criticized Republicans for purportedly targeting Medicaid cuts that could impact vulnerable populations. However, the White House has assured that public entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicaid will remain untouched in the GOP’s budget legislation.

While acknowledging that the bill alone won’t resolve the debt crisis, Arrington maintained that it represents a crucial initial step towards securing a sustainable fiscal path for future generations.

“It may not offer an immediate solution to our debt woes, but it serves as a promising start and an investment in our children’s future, ensuring they can enjoy the same opportunities and freedoms that we cherish,” the lawmaker concluded.
