US Election 2024

Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin of Virginia says with Trump’s election, ‘we’ve got a friend in the White House’

Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin of Virginia is feeling optimistic about the future now that President-elect Trump has won the election. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Youngkin expressed his excitement about having a friend in the White House who shares his values of pro-business policies, strong education, safe communities, and lower tax rates. He believes that having Trump in office will provide a tailwind for his administration in Virginia.

Despite rumors of a possible position in the Trump administration, Youngkin has made it clear that he intends to finish out his term as governor. However, he has not ruled out serving in the Trump administration after his term ends. He expressed his willingness to help the president in any capacity, both during his governorship and afterwards.

Youngkin rose to prominence three years ago when he became the first GOP candidate in twelve years to win the Virginia gubernatorial election. Since then, he has been a strong advocate for conservative policies and tax cuts. However, a setback in legislative elections last year limited his ability to push through his agenda.

Looking ahead to his final year in office, Youngkin is hopeful that Democrats will be more willing to negotiate on key issues like tax relief. He plans to continue pushing for pro-business policies, strong education, and public safety measures. Despite being in the minority in both the House and Senate, Youngkin remains optimistic about his ability to get things done.

In the upcoming 2025 gubernatorial election, Youngkin has thrown his support behind Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears as his successor. He believes that Sears, a commonsense conservative leader, is the right choice to continue the work he has started in Virginia. The election will be a historic one, as Sears could become the first Black female elected governor in the nation.

As for his own future political aspirations, Youngkin remains focused on his current role as governor. While he did not rule out a future run for the Senate or a White House campaign, he emphasized that his priority is finishing strong in his current position. He is committed to continuing to serve the people of Virginia and ensuring that the state continues to prosper under his leadership.
