Republican lawmakers react to projected Trump victory: ‘Welcome back’

After former President Donald Trump’s projected win in the 2024 White House contest, Republican lawmakers took to social media to express their excitement and support for the victory. Sen. Mike Lee of Utah tweeted, “America didn’t want what Kamala was selling,” poking fun at Vice President Kamala Harris. He also joked about Ukraine’s electoral votes not being enough to help Harris secure a win.

Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida chimed in, contrasting Harris’ celebrity endorsements with Trump’s support from hardworking everyday Americans. Rubio declared, “The hardworking Americans won.”

This victory marks Trump’s return to the White House after winning the presidency in 2016 and losing his re-election bid in 2020. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia went as far as to claim, “Donald Trump has just been elected President for a THIRD time,” expressing her excitement about America rejecting what she called a “communist regime.”

Rep. Kat Cammack of Florida and Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama also celebrated Trump’s win, with Tuberville welcoming back the former president. Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona referred to Trump as “47,” showing his admiration for the president.

Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina praised Trump’s leadership, calling it the “biggest come back for peace and prosperity at home and abroad.” Graham expressed his eagerness to work with Trump, saying, “See you on the golf course!”

The Fox News Decision Desk also projected that Republicans won control of the Senate, prompting Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky to look forward to a focus on fiscal responsibility and limiting government intervention. Paul expressed his optimism for a streamlined government that prioritizes the Constitution.
