EXCLUSIVE: GOP firebrand dares Dems to condemn attacks on Elon Musk’s Tesla

In the midst of a series of violent attacks, threats, and vandalism against Tesla owners and dealerships, as well as widespread protests known as “Tesla Takedown” demonstrations happening across the country, the GOP is challenging Democrats to denounce these acts as domestic terrorism.

Republican Representative Lauren Boebert from Colorado is taking action by introducing a resolution in the House of Representatives on Tuesday. The resolution criticizes unnamed members of the Democratic Party for allegedly encouraging their supporters to engage in domestic terrorism by targeting Tesla vehicles and facilities as a form of protest against Elon Musk. It condemns the wave of attacks on Tesla cars and dealerships as acts of domestic terrorism.

The resolution highlights over 80 incidents of arson or vandalism against Tesla vehicles and 10 incidents of vandalism at Tesla dealerships, charging stations, and facilities in the United States and Canada. These incidents involve individuals setting fire to cars and equipment, shooting at buildings and vehicles, and defacing private property with words like “Nazi” and “Long Live Ukraine.”

One of the incidents mentioned in the resolution is the March 18 attack in Las Vegas, where an individual dressed in black shot at Tesla cars at a collision center, set several vehicles on fire with Molotov cocktails, and spray-painted the word “Resist” on the shop’s doors. A suspect, Paul Hyon Kim, has been arrested and charged with multiple crimes related to the incident.

Another incident cited is the attack near Portland, Oregon, where gunshots were fired into a Tesla showroom, causing damage to cars and equipment. Despite these violent incidents, few Democrats have publicly denounced the violence, even as the FBI has launched a task force to address Tesla crime and the Justice Department has announced charges against arson suspects.

The resolution has garnered support from eight conservative co-sponsors in the House, including Representatives Andy Biggs, Byron Donalds, Brandon Gill, Nancy Mace, Barry Moore, Troy Nehls, Andy Ogles, and Greg Steube. Boebert emphasizes the importance of condemning domestic terrorism against Tesla owners and dealerships to make it clear where all members of Congress stand on the issue.

As the controversy surrounding Tesla and Elon Musk continues to escalate, it is crucial for lawmakers to address these acts of violence and vandalism as domestic terrorism. By calling on Democrats to denounce these attacks and support the resolution condemning domestic terrorism, the GOP is taking a stand against the targeting of Tesla vehicles and facilities in the name of political protest.
