Rescuers go into the woods of Hants County to try to rescue a motorist who was stranded in mud for two days

Rescuers rushed to the rescue early Tuesday afternoon to pull a man in his 50s from the woods near Nine Mile River, where his pickup truck has been stuck on an old forest road for two days.

RCMP spokesman Cpl. Chris Marshall said the man called for help during lunch and said he got stuck in the mud at Allens Lake, between Nine Mile River and Upper Rawdon.

“He said the truck was stuck, he can’t dig it out and he’s been there for a few days,” Marshall said.

He said the man had a phone charger in the vehicle and gasoline in the tank, and reported feeling unwell.

The area is about seven kilometers on dirt roads and trails from the Riverland Campground and RV Park.

All-terrain firefighters were sent into the woods to reach the man, but that mission was canceled before they could begin the search.

Marshall said the last update he had was that police had left the crime scene, but he didn’t know how the man got out of the woods.

He also said it is not known why the man waited so long before calling for help.
