Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for West Metro Denver

A severe thunderstorm is expected to move over west metro Denver this afternoon, bringing hail the size of ping pong balls and 50 mph winds, according to the National Weather Service.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning Details

Forecasters issued a severe thunderstorm warning for portions of Jefferson, Clear Creek and Gilpin counties, including western Lakewood, northwestern Arvada, Golden, Evergreen, Morrison, Marshdale, Brookvale, Idaho Springs, Black Hawk and Central City.

The severe weather alert will last until 5 p.m. and also includes Bergen Park, Kittredge, Idledale, Floyd Hill, White Ranch open space, Indian Hills, Red Rocks, Tiny Town, Aspen Park and Rocky Flats.

Safety Precautions

People and animals outdoors could be injured and should seek shelter in a well-built structure and stay away from windows, forecasters said.
