Drag queen group mocks Jesus, Christianity in Easter show marketed to kids

A San Francisco drag queen group known as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who identify as an “order of queer and trans nuns,” is causing a stir ahead of their annual transgender Easter event. The event, titled “No Easter without the T,” aims to celebrate transgenderism and includes activities such as a children’s Easter egg hunt and a costume contest where participants are encouraged to dress in drag as “Hunky Jesus and Foxy Mary.”
The event poster features an image of a tattooed “Jesus” surrounded by men in drag. Past events have seen participants dressed as Jesus in high heels, dresses, and minimal clothing, holding signs that read “can I get a gaymen?” and “Haus of Jesus.” Previous contest winners include characters like “Barbie’s Ken Jesus,” “Historically Accurate Jesus,” “Transgender Maria de Guadalupe,” “Pro-Choice Mary,” and “Black Woman as God.”
Libs of Tiktok, a conservative social media account, criticized the event for inviting children while acknowledging that some parts of the show may not be suitable for young audiences. The Catholic Vote senior advisor, Steve Cortes, condemned the event as “disgusting,” accusing the organizers of promoting bigotry against Christians, especially Catholics.
Logan Church, the political director of CatholicVote, expressed disgust at the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence’s blasphemous Easter event, labeling it as an act of mockery and bigotry towards Christianity. Church emphasized that while freedom of speech is valued in the country, Christians should not remain silent in the face of such offensive displays. He called on Christians to push back against sacrilege disguised as art and to defend their faith against ridicule.
In conclusion, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence’s controversial Easter event has sparked outrage among conservative circles, with many condemning it as an affront to religious beliefs. The clash between freedom of expression and religious sensitivity continues to be a contentious issue, highlighting the need for respectful dialogue and understanding between different communities.
