Robert Miller, billionaire accused of sex crimes, unfit to stand trial, judge rules

Montreal Billionaire Robert Miller Deemed Too Sick to Stand Trial for Multiple Sex Crimes
Quebec Superior Court Justice Lyne Décarie ruled on Tuesday that Robert Miller, the Montreal billionaire accused of multiple sex crimes, is too sick to stand trial. Both the Crown and Miller’s defence team had recommended a stay of proceedings due to his deteriorating health.
Dr. Pierre Blanchet, a Parkinson’s disease expert, had testified previously that the 81-year-old Miller was experiencing cognitive decline. This was a contributing factor in the decision to halt the trial.
Miller, who had not previously appeared in court, made a virtual appearance via video conference on Monday. He was facing 24 charges related to sex crimes involving 11 women, most of whom were minors at the time of the alleged crimes. Miller pleaded not guilty and has consistently denied the allegations against him.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
