Russia launches massive Ukraine strike following Trump’s call with Putin

Putin Orders Largest Drone Strike on Ukraine Just After Call with Trump

On Monday night, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin ordered the largest drone strike on Ukraine in a month, right after hanging up the phone with President Trump. This strike came as Trump was discussing next steps for peace with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders at the White House.

Despite the progress being made toward ending Russia’s war on Ukraine, Moscow launched 270 drones and 10 missiles into Ukrainian territory. This attack followed a previous strike that resulted in the deaths of 14 civilians and injuries to over 50 others.

Tragically, among the casualties was an entire family, including two children aged one and 15, their parents, and grandmother. They were killed in their home in Kharkiv, just 15 miles from the Russian border, during the night when the fatal blast occurred.

Deadly Toll Rises in Ukraine

The death toll in Ukraine has been devastating, with nearly 13,000 civilians, including 569 children, killed since Russia invaded in February 2022. This toll is more than four times the civilian casualties of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Ukrainian President Zelensky’s top advisor, Andriy Yermak, expressed disbelief at the continued violence despite Putin’s claims of readiness for peace. He called Putin a “professional liar” for his deceptive actions.

Trump’s Frustration with Putin’s Actions

Trump has previously voiced frustration over Putin’s aerial attacks following promises of peace. He has recounted instances where Putin launched strikes shortly after their conversations, calling out the Russian leader for his deceitful behavior.

Last month marked the deadliest period since the start of Putin’s war on Ukraine, with hundreds of civilians killed and many more injured. The escalating violence has led to record numbers of drone launches and civilian casualties.

Escalating Violence in Ukraine

Despite efforts to negotiate peace, the conflict in Ukraine shows no signs of abating. The ongoing attacks have devastated communities near the front lines and even reached the capital city of Kyiv. The United Nations has highlighted the vulnerability of civilians facing intensifying attacks in various regions of Ukraine.

The situation in Ukraine remains dire, with innocent civilians bearing the brunt of the violence. As world leaders continue to seek solutions for peace, the toll of war on Ukrainian civilians continues to rise.
