Saints’ Chris Olave carted off the field after suffering 2nd concussion of the season

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave suffered a scary hit in Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, resulting in him being placed on a backboard and carted off the field in the first quarter. The hit, delivered by safety Xavier Woods, left Olave motionless on the field for more than five minutes as medical staff rushed to his aid.

Olave, who was attempting to make a catch across the middle, was sandwiched between Woods and cornerback Dane Jackson, leading to a violent collision. Woods was penalized for unnecessary roughness on the play, but was not ejected from the game.

After being evaluated on the field, Olave was taken to a local medical facility for further assessment. The Saints later confirmed on social media that Olave had suffered a concussion and would not return to the game. Despite the concerning nature of the hit, Olave reportedly had movement in all extremities as he was being attended to by medical personnel.

The incident serves as a reminder of the physical toll that football can take on players, highlighting the importance of player safety and the need for continued efforts to prevent serious injuries on the field. Our thoughts are with Chris Olave as he undergoes further evaluation and treatment for his concussion.
