Saquon Barkley appears to take shot at Giants in new ad after rushing for 2,000 yards

Saquon Barkley, the former New York Giants running back who now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, may be taking a subtle dig at his old team with a new advertisement he recently starred in for Unisom, a sleep aid. The ad features a cryptic message that some speculate could be directed towards Giants owner John Mara, who famously expressed his concerns about Barkley joining the Eagles.
In the ad, Barkley is seen saying, “I heard some of you were having trouble sleeping, so I wrote you a lullaby. Rockabye baby, awake in your bed, as the thought of 2,000 swirls in your head. It sure is tough to lose sleep over football – not for me, though. Good night to you all.” This playful jab seems to reference Mara’s comments about having a hard time sleeping if Barkley ended up in Philadelphia.
Despite the controversy surrounding his move to the Eagles, Barkley has been putting up impressive numbers on the field. In a recent game, he surpassed the 2,000-yard mark for the season, becoming the ninth player in NFL history to do so. With the Eagles heading to the playoffs, Barkley will have to rest in the final game of the season, leaving him just 101 yards short of breaking the NFL’s single-season rushing record.
While Barkley admits that part of him wants to chase after the record, he ultimately prioritizes the team’s success over personal accolades. He states, “It’s an opportunity to imprint my name in football history. I may never get another opportunity like that again. But in the end of the day, I don’t care for putting the team at risk.” As a result, Barkley will finish the season with a total of 2,005 yards.
Despite the drama surrounding his departure from the Giants, Barkley remains focused on his current team and their playoff run. His subtle advertisement may have stirred up some controversy, but his performance on the field speaks for itself. As he continues to make headlines in the NFL, it’s clear that Barkley is determined to leave his mark on the league, regardless of where he plays.
