Saskatchewan toddler dies in hit-and-run, RCMP search for man

PUNNICHY, Sask. – Saskatchewan RCMP says a toddler has died after a truck hit him and fled.

Mounties say the victim was a one-year-old boy from George Gordon First Nation, 70 miles north of Regina.

Police say they are looking for Mervin Poorman, who is believed to be the driver of the truck.

He has been charged with failing to stop after an accident resulting in death and driving a vehicle when it was illegal to do so.

RCMP says Poorman is six feet tall, weighs 300 pounds, and has brown hair, brown eyes, and tattoos.

According to police, he was driving a black 2008 Dodge Ram, which has not yet been found.
