Schumer, Baldwin, Blumenthal rail against Trump’s 100 days in floor all-nighter

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, a Democrat from New York, did not hold back when he began an all-night session on the Senate floor to criticize President Donald Trump’s actions during his first 100 days in office. Schumer referred to Trump’s presidency as a period of “corruption and cronyism” that is burdening the American people with higher costs.
Schumer accused Trump of behaving like a dictator, mob boss, and wannabe king. He expressed concern that Trump is undermining the foundations of the democratic republic by attacking institutions like law firms, universities, and judges. Schumer emphasized the importance of free speech and debate in American tradition, which he believes Trump is trying to suppress.
During the all-night session, Senator Richard Blumenthal from Connecticut also criticized Trump, describing his administration as “cruel and dumb.” Senator Tammy Baldwin from Wisconsin highlighted the challenges faced by her constituents due to Trump’s policies, calling attention to the broken promises made by the president during his campaign.
Despite facing challenges within his own party, Schumer remained steadfast in his opposition to the Trump administration. He emphasized the need for Democrats to unite against the administration and uphold the core values of the nation.
In response to the criticisms, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump’s first 100 days in office, highlighting his accomplishments in securing the border and addressing inflation. Leavitt expressed confidence that the next 100 days would bring further successes in trade deals, peace agreements, and tax cuts.
The all-night session was interrupted by procedural votes, but Democrats are expected to continue their efforts to hold the Trump administration accountable. The session reflects the deep concerns and frustrations felt by Democrats over the direction of the country under Trump’s leadership.
As the debate continues in the Senate, it is clear that the divide between Democrats and the Trump administration remains wide. The all-night session serves as a reminder of the ongoing political battles and the determination of lawmakers to fight for their beliefs and values.
