It was not the best lie in the thick rough on the par-3 hole, but Scheffler’s contact was perfect when the ball flew on the green and started dripping to the hole. While the pace of the ball went on, the line looked perfect when it continued to follow in the direction of the cup.

Then while it left steam, it sank and the crowd became wild when Scheffler Birdie got the most unconventional way. And he sealed the victory over Macintyre, who was visibly amazed by what he saw.

“Some of me wanted to go on the pin, and I kept a bit on the left,” Scheffler said about his chip-in on the 17th, per Yahoo Sports. “I knew that today would not be a bad score on that hole. Every time you go such a chip it is pretty nice. It looked good when it landed, it looked good when it rolled, and it was nice to see that it went inside.”

This victory on the final round of the FedEx Cup -Play -Ooffs was his fifth this season, which marked his second consecutive PGA Tour year of at least five victories. Only Tiger Woods has been able to do that in the last 40 years.

Scheffler’s 2025 season included two more important titles, as he won on the British Open and the PGA championship for that. With two Masters Green Jackets, Scheffler only needs the US Open Trophy to complete the career Grand Slam, who have only reached six other golfers about their career.
