Senate GOP launches first hearing on alleged Biden cognitive decline cover-up

Senate Republicans are preparing for a significant congressional hearing into the alleged cover-up of former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline. Senators John Cornyn and Eric Schmitt will be co-chairing a Senate Judiciary Hearing on Wednesday, aiming to uncover what transpired during Biden’s term and why the constitutional mechanism to remove him from office was not activated.

Cornyn highlighted that the hearing’s primary objective is to shed light on the events that unfolded behind the scenes during critical moments of Biden’s presidency, such as the border crisis and the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal. He emphasized that it has become evident that the president was not fully capable for an extended period, raising concerns about who was actually making decisions and executing presidential duties.

The hearing, titled “Unfit to Serve: How the Biden Cover-Up Endangered America and Undermined the Constitution,” will feature witnesses who served during the Trump administration and the Reagan and Bush eras. Among these witnesses are Theodore Wold, a former official in the Justice Department and the Trump administration, Sean Spicer, former White House press secretary, and John Harrison, a legal scholar with experience in previous administrations.

Wold and Harrison plan to focus their testimony on Biden’s alleged use of an autopen, a device that replicates a person’s signature, and how this may have been used to mask any cognitive decline and prevent the invocation of the 25th Amendment. Former President Trump has called for an investigation into whether Biden’s team misused an autopen to conceal his cognitive decline.

Spicer’s testimony will delve into the media’s treatment of Trump versus Biden during their initial terms, highlighting alleged media silence regarding signs of Biden’s decline. Democrats on the panel did not call any witnesses, with Sen. Dick Durbin criticizing the hearing as a political endeavor that wastes the Senate Judiciary Committee’s time.

The upcoming hearing promises to be a critical examination of the allegations surrounding Biden’s cognitive decline and the purported attempts to conceal it. As Senate Republicans gear up for this high-profile event, the nation waits to see what revelations may come to light regarding the former president’s health and the actions taken during his tenure in office.
