Senate Republicans likely to delay Big Beautiful Bill vote until late June

Senate Republicans are facing delays in putting the Big, Beautiful Bill on the floor for debate and a vote next week, as reported by Fox News. It is now expected that this may not happen until the week of June 22, potentially jeopardizing the final passage of the measure through both the Senate and the House by July 4.
The Senate Finance Committee is set to release the text of the bill as early as Monday, with this section being the most expansive and controversial. It includes key tax provisions such as state and local tax reductions (SALT), potential spending cuts, and changes to Medicare and Medicaid.
Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough will then begin the process of reviewing provisions that do not align with strict Senate Budget rules, further delaying the debate and vote on the bill. If the Senate does advance the bill, the House will have a limited window to either approve the Senate’s changes or send it back with further amendments before the July 4 deadline.
The potential for multiple rounds of changes between the Senate and the House could prolong the process beyond July 4, leading to a fourth vote-a-rama in just a few months. The true deadline, however, is early August when the Treasury Department predicts the U.S. will reach the debt ceiling. A debt ceiling increase is included as part of the Big, Beautiful Bill.
It is important to note that while July 4 is an aspirational deadline, the true deadline is in August. This information was reported by Chad Pergram, a senior congressional correspondent for Fox News Channel based in Washington, D.C.
