In a highly anticipated top-10 matchup on Saturday night, the No. 9 LSU Tigers emerged victorious with a hard-fought 17-10 win over the No. 4 Clemson Tigers in South Carolina.
The game was dominated by strong defensive play, with both teams struggling to generate much offense in the early stages. The first half saw a series of punts, a fumble, and a couple of field goals, keeping the score close.
It wasn’t until late in the second half that Clemson managed to break the deadlock with a touchdown drive. However, LSU quickly responded with a touchdown of their own, only to squander a scoring opportunity with a costly fumble just before halftime.
After the break, LSU managed to level the score at 10-10 with a touchdown, seizing momentum in the process. A crucial interception by LSU’s defense set up a potential go-ahead score, but a controversial ruling overturned a touchdown pass, forcing LSU to settle for a missed field goal.
With just over 12 minutes remaining in the game, LSU’s offense finally found success, as quarterback Garrett Nussmeier connected with Trey’Dez Green for the decisive touchdown.
Clemson’s offense struggled to find its rhythm down the stretch, failing to capitalize on late-game opportunities. Despite a final drive deep into LSU territory, Clemson fell short on a fourth-down play, allowing LSU to secure the 17-10 win.

Garrett Nussmeier put on an impressive performance, completing 28 of 38 passes for 230 yards to lead LSU to victory. On the other side, Clemson’s Cade Klubnik struggled to find success, finishing 19-for-38 with 230 yards passing and minimal impact on the ground.
Looking ahead, Clemson will aim to bounce back against Troy next Saturday, while LSU will return home to face Louisiana Tech in their next matchup.
