Seven hurt in three-vehicle Antigonish County crash

Seven people were treated after a three-vehicle crash in Antigonish County Sunday evening.

RCMP spokesman Cpl. Chrid Marshall said that that 8:30 p.m. a Subaru was travelling north on Highway 245 in North Grant when it made a left turn. A Nissan heading south on the highway tried to avoid the vehicle, but sideswiped it and then collided head-on with a Honda also heading north.

Five of the seven occupants of the vehicles were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The road was shut down for several hours while a collision reconstructionist worked at the scene.

Marshal said the investigation is continuing and that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
