Trump orders immediate end to Biden’s crackdown on household appliances, return to ‘common sense standards’
President Donald Trump has taken a bold stance on reversing Biden-era green energy regulations on household appliances. In a recent announcement, Trump ordered the immediate reinstatement of environmental orders issued during his first term, calling for a return to “common sense standards.”
Former President Joe Biden had implemented stricter climate standards for various household appliances, such as gas stoves, washing machines, and dishwashers. However, energy experts and manufacturers raised concerns that these regulations could lead to more expensive alternatives that are less effective than current models.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump directed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), under the leadership of former Rep. Lee Zeldin, to undo Biden’s climate mandates and revert to the environmental orders put in place during his administration. Trump emphasized the need for sensible standards on water flow, sinks, showers, toilets, washing machines, dishwashers, and light bulbs.

Republican lawmakers, who hold the majority in both the House and the Senate, have also taken action to oppose Biden’s green energy standards for appliances. Rep. Stephanie Bice introduced a resolution against the coolers and freezers standards set by the Biden administration, while Rep. Gary Palmer introduced a resolution to block Biden’s ban on water heaters.
Additionally, the House passed the “Liberty in Laundry Act” in January, aiming to prevent the Energy secretary and Department of Energy from enforcing new or amended energy efficiency standards for clothes washers that are not technologically feasible and economically justified.
The push to reverse Biden’s green energy regulations reflects Trump’s pro-energy agenda, which he believes will unleash American jobs and enhance energy security. With the support of Republican lawmakers and the EPA under Lee Zeldin’s leadership, Trump’s administration is committed to prioritizing common-sense environmental standards for household appliances.
