Skier given 5% chance of survival after accident achieves ‘miraculous’ recovery

Olivia Corbiere, a 23-year-old woman, faced a near-death experience after a horrific skiing accident in Bansko, Bulgaria, in March 2024. The fall down a ravine left her with a brain bleed, lung damage, a broken pelvis, and three fractured vertebrae. Initially given just a 5% chance of survival, doctors feared that even if she did pull through, she might never speak again.

Corbiere, a kitchen designer from England, was on a ski trip with friends and her younger sister, Phoebe, when the accident occurred. As they were discussing lunch plans, Corbiere lost control on the ski path due to the melted snow and tumbled over the edge into the ravine. Her quick-thinking friends and sister jumped in to rescue her while others called for emergency help.
