A major outage of Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) on Saturday has left tens of thousands of gamers unable to access online services, stores, and multimedia apps. The issue was first reported late Friday, with users experiencing connectivity issues, error messages, and login failures.
In response to the complaints, PlayStation acknowledged the problems on their social media platforms. Users around the globe expressed frustration with the outage, with one London-based user named Ramos calling it “criminal” for PSN to be down on a Friday night.
The Downdetector outage tracking site showed a spike in reports of issues with PSN, prompting Sony to address the concerns. The company confirmed the outage but did not provide details on the cause.
The Sony website also confirmed the problems with its PlayStation Network services. Users were experiencing issues with account management, gaming and social services, as well as PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Direct.
This is not the first time the PlayStation network has experienced downtime. Last October, the network was down for several hours, causing inconvenience for gamers worldwide.
As gamers eagerly awaited the resolution of the PSN outage, Sony worked to restore services and ensure that users could once again access their favorite online features. Stay tuned for updates on the situation as Sony works to address the issue and get gamers back online.
