Speaker Johnson invites Trump to address Congress amid busy first 100-day sprint

Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has extended an invitation to President Donald Trump to address a joint session of Congress on March 4. In a letter obtained by Fox News Digital, Johnson commended Trump’s leadership and bold actions in the early days of his presidency, noting a resurgence of patriotism, unity, and hope in the country.
“Thanks to your strong leadership and bold action in the first days of your presidency, the United States is already experiencing a resurgence of patriotism, unity, and hope for the future,” Johnson wrote in his letter to the president.
Johnson emphasized the importance of Trump’s vision for the nation’s future, stating that the administration and the 119th Congress have the opportunity to make the next four years some of the most consequential in American history. He extended the invitation for Trump to address a Joint Session of Congress on March 4, 2025, to share his “America First” vision for the legislative future.
The letter comes ahead of Trump’s scheduled address to House Republicans at their annual issues conference and retreat in South Florida. House GOP lawmakers will convene at Trump’s golf course and resort in Doral to discuss government spending and plans for a major conservative policy overhaul.
Trump had signaled his intention for a proactive first 100 days in office even before his inauguration. With Republicans controlling both the House and Senate, as well as the White House, GOP lawmakers will need to work closely together to enact Trump’s agenda with slim majorities in both chambers.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Johnson’s invitation to Trump underscores the importance of collaboration and unity in shaping the future of the country. The upcoming address to Congress presents an opportunity for Trump to outline his priorities and goals for the legislative agenda moving forward.
