Speaker Mike Johnson dishes on President Donald Trump’s first 100 days in White House

In an exclusive interview with Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., it was revealed that President Donald Trump has achieved more in his first 100 days in office than most politicians or presidents accomplish in their entire lifetimes. Johnson, a top House Republican, described this period as a “flurry of activity” that has laid the groundwork for the GOP’s plans to pass a major piece of legislation focusing on defense, taxes, energy, and border security.

According to Johnson, the upcoming reconciliation bill will serve as the legislative vehicle through which the president’s America First agenda will be delivered. Despite facing challenges with the smallest margin in the history of Congress, Johnson expressed pride in leading the party through this crucial time.

One of the key achievements highlighted by Johnson was the passage of the Laken Riley Act, as well as efforts to keep transgender women out of biological women’s spaces. He also acknowledged Trump’s use of executive orders, stating that the president has issued 110 executive orders and numerous other executive actions. Johnson emphasized the partnership between Congress and the administration in codifying these actions.

However, Johnson refuted claims that Republicans have ceded power to Trump, asserting that the president is operating within his scope of authority. He defended Trump’s actions on tariffs and executive orders, noting that many of these actions were aimed at reversing policies implemented by the previous administration.

As a former constitutional law attorney, Johnson described himself as a “jealous guardian of Article I” and promised to address any concerns with Trump if he felt that Congress’s power was being infringed upon. He expressed confidence that Trump has not engaged in executive overreach, but vowed to speak up if he believed otherwise.

In conclusion, Johnson emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance of power between the executive and legislative branches of government. As the GOP continues to work towards advancing Trump’s agenda, Johnson’s commitment to upholding the principles of the Constitution remains unwavering.
