Evacuation order lifted in the Dartmouth area while crews contain gas leak

Gas Leak in Dartmouth Leads to Evacuation Warrant
An evacuation warrant in Dartmouth was canceled after crews contained a natural gas leak on Tuesday.
Details of the Gas Leak Incident
The regional police of Halifax said that the leak was reported at around 1:30 pm in the PineCrest Drive area and Jackson Road in Dartmouth. This led to an evacuation warrant for the Leaman Drive area, west to PineCrest Drive and Albro Lake Road, Noord to Crystal Drive.
Response and Assistance Provided
The province released an emergency warning and said that four Halifax Transit buses went to the area to offer temporary accommodation to people who had to evacuate. Nova Scotia Power also cut electricity from the surrounding area as a precautionary measure, while crews continue their work.
Resolution of the Gas Leak
At around 4.30 pm HRFE confirmed that the gas leak was recorded and the evacuation warrant was lifted shortly thereafter. HRM said that emergency staff remained on stage to check the air quality and to ensure that it was safe for residents to return.
