Springsteen opens the vault with dozens of unreleased songs on long-awaited box set sequel

Bruce Springsteen has finally announced the release of his highly anticipated sequel to the acclaimed 1998 “Tracks” box set. The new collection, titled “Tracks II: The Lost Albums,” features a total of 83 songs, the majority of which have never been released before.
According to Springsteen, the set includes seven “lost” albums that were fully recorded and even mixed, but never made it to the public eye for various reasons. The legendary musician shared in a video posted on social media that he was able to revisit these recordings during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Tracks II: The Lost Albums” is set to be released on June 27 in various CD and LP formats, with some editions including a 100-page hardcover book. The announcement was teased by Springsteen with a cryptic message on Instagram that read, “What was lost has been found.”
The collection kicks off with sessions from 1983 in Los Angeles, featuring alternative takes of familiar tracks like “My Hometown” and “Johnny Bye-Bye.” The majority of the material is believed to be from the 1990s, a decade that saw Springsteen release three studio albums before a hiatus and eventual reunion with the E Street Band.
The box set promises a diverse range of music, from orchestra-driven and country-inspired tracks to sessions inspired by Springsteen’s Oscar-winning song “Streets of Philadelphia.” A new rock track titled “Raised on the River” was released to streaming platforms in conjunction with the announcement.
“Tracks II: The Lost Albums” marks Springsteen’s first original material release since 2020’s “Letter to You.” In 2022, he treated fans to a collection of soul classics covers with “Only the Strong Survive.”
In addition to the upcoming release of the box set, Springsteen fans can also look forward to the biopic “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” which stars Jeremy Allen White as the iconic musician. The film is set to premiere later this year.
As fans eagerly await the arrival of “Tracks II: The Lost Albums,” Springsteen and the E Street Band are gearing up for a tour of Europe and the U.K., set to kick off in May and conclude in July. With new music on the horizon and a biopic in the works, it’s an exciting time to be a Bruce Springsteen fan.
