Democratic congresswoman Rashida Tlaib made headlines with her impassioned speech at the “People’s Conference for Palestine” in Detroit, where she unleashed on the United States and pro-Israel politicians.
Tlaib, the first Palestinian-American elected to Congress, criticized Israeli leaders and supporters, declaring, “I want to say to all of them, every genocide enabler, look at this room, we ain’t going anywhere.”
She emphasized the resilience of the Palestinian people, stating, “They thought they could erase us, but now we’re in Congress and across the United States. We are just getting started.”
Tlaib also called out the United States as an “empire in Washington, D.C.,” highlighting the country’s history of slavery and oppression.

Tlaib criticized the Trump administration, drawing parallels between the treatment of Palestinians and issues in America, such as healthcare and food assistance programs.
She warned, “What our government is willing to do to Palestinians, they are willing to do to all of you.”
Tlaib’s speech comes after facing backlash for sharing a video with a controversial slogan and being censured by the House of Representatives in 2023.
