Squad members blast Trump’s Iran strikes as unconstitutional violation

Members of the congressional “Squad” have come out in force to criticize President Donald Trump following his decision to order missile and bomb strikes on Iranian nuclear sites late Saturday night. Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan was particularly vocal, taking to Twitter to express her outrage.
In response to a comment about U.S. “elites” being united by war, especially against Muslims in the Middle East, Tlaib exclaimed, “Yep and it’s so f—ing sick.” She went on to condemn Trump for sending troops to bomb Iran without the consent of Congress, calling it a blatant violation of the Constitution. Tlaib emphasized that the American people do not want to be dragged into another endless war.
Tlaib’s fellow Squad members, including Reps. Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also voiced their concerns about Trump’s actions. They criticized the president for not seeking approval from Congress before launching the strikes, with Tlaib even retweeting a comment from a right-wing congressman who called the strike unconstitutional.
Rep. Delia Ramirez of Illinois labeled Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “warmongers,” warning that their actions would only bring suffering to the people. She stressed that only Congress has the power to declare war and called for immediate action to prevent further escalation.
Rep. Gregorio Casar of Texas echoed these sentiments, stating that Trump’s actions were illegal and calling for a War Powers Resolution to block the president from carrying out an unconstitutional war. He highlighted the consequences of sending young Americans to fight and die in endless conflicts in the Middle East.
The most recognizable Squad member, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, described Trump’s decision as disastrous and a grave violation of the Constitution. She called for immediate congressional action to rein in the president and prevent further escalation of the conflict.
While not a member of the Squad, Rep. Sean Casten of Illinois also called for Trump’s impeachment over the strikes. Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota emphasized the need for Congress to vote on War Powers resolutions to prevent Trump from further escalating the conflict.
Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Rep. Summer Lee of Pennsylvania joined their colleagues in condemning Trump’s actions and calling for immediate congressional intervention. They accused the president of putting innocent lives at risk and warned that dropping bombs on Iran would only bring the world closer to war.
In response to the criticism, Sen. Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma defended Trump’s actions, stating that the president has the authority to protect Americans at home and abroad if they feel threatened or attacked. He emphasized that Trump’s priority is keeping America safe.
Overall, the Squad members and their allies are united in their condemnation of Trump’s decision to launch strikes on Iranian nuclear sites without congressional approval. They are calling for immediate action to prevent further escalation and protect the American people from being dragged into another endless war.
