State Department details plan to deal with Columbia, Hamas, Rubio taking on NSA

As the Trump administration surpasses the 100-day mark, global conflicts have taken a different turn since the president assumed office. Nearly 600 days have passed since the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7, sparking a full-scale war in the Middle East and igniting clashes between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli groups domestically.

“We’re guided by two principles in approaching this conflict. Firstly, we stand with Israel and its right to self-defense. Secondly, Hamas must release the hostages,” stated U.S. Department of State Deputy spokesperson Tommy Pigott. “Hamas cannot continue to exist.”

A recent New York Times opinion piece titled “This Israeli Government Is Not Our Ally” underscored the ongoing tensions between the two groups, as evidenced by the arrest of nearly 80 students during pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University.

Regarding visa holders supporting terrorism in the United States, Pigott emphasized a zero-tolerance policy and the potential revocation of visas for those violating the law. Overseas, Hamas released the last American hostage, Edan Alexander, reportedly to placate President Trump. Israel issued an evacuation warning for Yemeni ports after bombing the country’s main airport, while maintaining a ceasefire with the Houthis.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s responsibilities increased after Mike Waltz’s departure from the National Security Administration to serve as ambassador to the United Nations, leaving Rubio to fill the void. Despite the added workload, Pigott affirmed that the State Department has been delivering results under Rubio’s leadership.

Pigott highlighted the collaboration between President Trump and Secretary Rubio in implementing policies and achieving the administration’s vision. He commended the dedication of individuals working towards delivering outcomes for the American people, citing the past 100-plus days as the most successful in history.

The ongoing efforts of officials like Secretary Rubio demonstrate a dedication to achieving positive outcomes for the nation and its interests.
