Steven Dubois wins 3 races to highlight Canada’s 6-medal Sunday at short track worlds

Canada’s men’s short track relay team made history at the ISU world championships in Beijing, joining their female counterparts on the top of the speed skating podium. The team, comprised of William Dandjinou, Maxime Laoun, Felix Roussel, and Steven Dubois, secured a gold medal in the men’s 5,000 relay event with a time of six minutes 41.271 seconds. This victory marked their third gold medal of the day and a total of six golds in a remarkable six-medal haul for Canada.
Dubois, a standout performer for the Canadian team, also clinched individual gold in the men’s 1,000m event, narrowly edging out his teammate Dandjinou in a thrilling finish. The duo’s 1-2 finish showcased the depth and talent of the Canadian short track speed skating team.
In addition to their relay success, Canada’s athletes excelled in other events throughout the championships. Courtney Sarault, Rikki Doak, Florence Brunelle, and Kim Boutin triumphed in the women’s 3,000 relay, while Dubois secured gold in the men’s 500m race.
