Suncor Cyberattackers obtained the contact information of Petro-Points members

Suncor Energy Inc. says the cyberattack that hit the company’s Petro-Canada chain of stores also resulted in the leakage of certain customer data.
The Calgary-based energy company says the cybercriminals gained access to the company’s Petro-Points rewards program and obtained members’ basic contact information.
Suncor says it will notify Petro-Points members and privacy regulators and will notify affected parties if additional information is determined to have been obtained.
The company is continuing its investigation into the cyberattack, which it says took place on or around June 21.
The safety and reliability of Suncor’s oil and gas producing field operations remained unaffected.
Many Petro-Canada locations across the country were cash-only for several days last week due to the cybersecurity breach, and the company’s Petro-Points app, website and some car washes were also temporarily unavailable.
