Surrey RCMP says one person was injured in a shooting, believed to be related to drug trafficking

SURREY, BC — A person is being treated at the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury following a shooting in Surrey, BC, Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to the 80 Avenue and Fleetwood Park area just before 6 p.m. to reports of two groups of men shooting at each other.

Officers say the injured man took off in a vehicle that was later found at Fraser Highway and 148 Street.

Surrey RCMP say the investigation is still in its early stages, but they believe the two groups involved in the shooting knew each other and that this was a targeted incident.

The victim is known to the police and is said to be involved in the drug trade.

Police are asking people with information to contact them.
