Swatting incident in Georgia at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s home leads to fatal car accident
A tragic incident occurred at the North Georgia home of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., where a woman lost her life following a car accident involving local police. The congresswoman took to social media to report that she was the target of a bomb threat, which prompted a bomb squad to be dispatched to her home after the Rome Police Department’s assistant chief received a threatening email.
This was not the first time Greene has been a victim of a swatting call since being elected to Congress, as she mentioned that she has been targeted at least nine times. Swatting calls involve falsely alerting 911 of a threat to a specific location or individual, leading to a police response that can divert resources from real emergencies.
The email threatening Greene was traced back to a Russian IP address, and her office is working with local and federal law enforcement, including the FBI, to catch the perpetrator. Unfortunately, during the response to Greene’s home, a fatal traffic incident occurred involving a member of the Rome Police bomb squad.
Greene expressed deep sorrow over the accident, which claimed the life of a woman and injured a police officer. She condemned the violent political threats that lead to such tragic consequences and acknowledged the strain they put on law enforcement. Greene extended her prayers to the victim, Tammie Pickelsimer, her family, the injured officer, and the entire Rome Police Department.
The congresswoman expressed her anger and disgust towards the perpetrator, referring to the incident as murder. She emphasized the need to prevent such incidents from happening again and commended the Rome PD for their dedicated service and sacrifice.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and Fox News Digital has reached out to Rome police for further comments on the matter. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers and consequences of swatting calls, highlighting the need for stricter laws and enforcement measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
