Humvee plunges nearly 30 feet from highway with injuries reported

A military Humvee towing a trailer veered off Interstate 90 in Bellevue, Washington, on Saturday, crashing over a retaining wall and landing on a street below, as reported by the Washington State Patrol.

The incident took place on eastbound I-90 near the Eastgate neighborhood, where the vehicle mysteriously drifted to the right and exited the freeway. It then crossed a grassy shoulder before plummeting approximately 30 feet onto Southeast 38th St., according to Trooper Rick Johnson of Fox News Digital.

Trooper Johnson stated, “This Humvee Tonic Trailer was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 and drifted right for some reason. We don’t really know the reason, and it left the freeway, crossed a grass area, and then went over a wall, landing on one of the surface streets below.”

Fortunately, only two individuals in the military vehicle sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the pair were likely taken to Overlake Medical Center, the closest major hospital in the vicinity.

The military vehicle was part of a convoy heading towards the Yakima Training Center in central Washington via I-90. The Humvee suffered significant damage in the accident, as depicted in photos shared by Trooper Johnson. Despite the severity of the crash, there is currently no available video footage or dashcam clips submitted to the agency.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities are working diligently to determine the circumstances that led to the vehicle’s abrupt departure from the freeway. The aftermath of the incident and the steep drop from the overpass to the street below can be observed in the images shared by Trooper Johnson.
