Entire border wall to be painted black at president’s request, says DHS lead

The Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently announced that the entire southern border wall will undergo a significant transformation. As part of the Trump administration’s efforts to enhance border security, the wall will be painted black to increase its effectiveness as a deterrent.

Noem made the announcement while standing in front of a portion of the southern border wall in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. She explained that painting the wall black serves a dual purpose – it will make the wall heat up more, making it harder to climb, and it will also extend the lifespan of the metal.

The decision to paint the wall black was made at the request of President Donald Trump. Noem emphasized the importance of discouraging illegal border crossings and ensuring that individuals enter the country through legal means. By painting the wall black, the administration aims to make it more challenging for people to breach the border.

In addition to the new paint job, the administration is investing in technology, cameras, sensors, and waterborne infrastructure to further secure the border. Construction on the wall is progressing at a rapid pace, with close to half a mile being completed each day. Noem credited a recent bill passed by Congress for providing the necessary resources to continue construction.

The administration’s focus extends beyond the southern border, with efforts also being made to secure the northern border. Noem stressed the importance of maintaining secure borders for the nation’s future and expressed gratitude for having a president who understands this.

Joining Noem were Border Patrol agents and officials, including Interim Chief Patrol Agent Walter Slosar. Slosar shared that agents in the El Paso Sector are now apprehending an average of 41 individuals per day, a significant decrease from the numbers seen under the previous administration. The sector is also experiencing a decrease in “gotaways,” with consequences being applied to those who attempt to enter the country illegally.

Overall, morale among Border Patrol agents has improved, with a renewed sense of purpose in fulfilling their national security duties. The administration’s firm stance on illegal border crossings sends a clear message that entering the country unlawfully is not acceptable.

In conclusion, the efforts to enhance border security through measures such as painting the southern border wall black demonstrate the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders. By combining physical barriers with advanced technology and strategic enforcement, the administration aims to create a secure and efficient border for years to come.
