Remaining Sunday ferry crossings between N.S., P.E.I. cancelled due to weather

Cancelled Ferry Crossings Between Eastern P.E.I. and Northern Nova Scotia
Due to inclement weather conditions, ferry crossings between eastern P.E.I. and northern Nova Scotia have been cancelled for the remainder of Sunday.
The MV Confederation managed to complete three trips between Wood Islands, P.E.I., and Caribou, N.S., before Northumberland Ferries announced the cancellation of afternoon trips. The 11:45 a.m. crossing out of Caribou was the final one scheduled for the day.
Visitors to the Confederation Bridge website were advised of potential traffic restrictions on Sunday due to high winds, expected to last from approximately 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The MV Confederation recently resumed service on Wednesday after being out of commission since September 15 following a collision with the wharf in Wood Islands. Unfortunately, technical difficulties arose after just one round trip, leading to the cancellation of crossings the following day.
In anticipation of a new vessel, the MV Fanafjord, currently undergoing sea trials in Norway and slated for service next year, plans are in place to dredge Wood Islands Harbour to accommodate the ship. Dredging operations are expected to commence next fall.
