Calgary’s Wes Heffernan captures his third PGA of Alberta crown

Heffernan Claims Third PGA of Alberta Championship Title
Mark Heffernan secured his third PGA of Alberta Championship title in a dramatic fashion, showcasing his resilience and skill on the course.
After a strong performance with an opening-round 66, Heffernan continued his momentum with a 67 on Tuesday, finishing with a winning score of 11-under.
Reflecting on his victory, Heffernan commented, “This is my 10th year, and every single championship that I play, I have to take on somebody. There is always someone coming for me. If you don’t play well, you won’t win, so that’s good for our game.”
Despite facing a challenge with a double-bogey on the ninth hole, Heffernan showcased his determination by bouncing back with five birdies on the back nine. Jordan Bean made a strong push with an eagle and seven birdies, but a double-bogey on the final hole opened the door for Heffernan to secure the victory.
Heffernan shared, “Jordan took over this tournament on the 17th hole with that birdie, so I had to press to make a birdie on 18. He made a double on the last hole and then it was my tournament. Golf is so up and down. Last week I gave one away at the Alberta Open, and this week it was given to me.”
Bean finished in second place with a total score of 10-under, while Dillon Batsel impressed with a stellar round of 7-under 65 to claim third place at -6 overall.
Heffernan’s victory adds to his successful year, which included a win at the 2025 Coldstream Clear Assistants’ Championship shortly after competing in his eighth RBC Canadian Open.
