Taiwan is reportedly considering a substantial $15 billion military package in a bid to demonstrate its commitment to defending itself against the perceived threat posed by China. According to a report by the Financial Times, officials from Taipei have been engaged in informal talks with the incoming Trump team. The specifics of these discussions remain unclear, as President-elect Donald Trump has yet to assemble his cabinet.

One of the key components of the proposed military package is the purchase of an Aegis-class destroyer, a system described by defense contractor Lockheed Martin as one of the most advanced combat systems in the world.
