TD Bank says the glitch that halted direct deposits has been resolved

TD Bank says it has fixed technical issues that prevented some account holders from getting paid on Friday.

A bank representative says the outage primarily affected provinces west of Ontario, but customers “should now have full access to most banking services,” including deferred direct deposits.

TD blamed the problem occurring all day on computers failing to process a large amount of data – something it described as a “batch processing problem” affecting multiple systems.

The bank began being inundated on social media on Friday with customers expressing concerns about not being able to pay bills.

Some also said automatic withdrawals turned their accounts negative.

TD says any fees incurred due to missing direct deposits will be refunded.
