Tesla vehicles, dealerships targeted with arson, gunfire and vandalism: FBI

The FBI has issued a warning to the public to be vigilant near Tesla properties following a series of targeted attacks on Tesla electric vehicles, dealerships, storage lots, and charging stations across nine states since January 2025. These incidents have involved arson, gunfire, and vandalism, with graffiti expressing grievances against perceived racists, fascists, or political opponents.

The attacks, which some are calling domestic terrorism, have come after Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, was appointed by President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). DOGE has been tasked with cutting wasteful federal spending and has resulted in the layoffs of tens of thousands of federal employees.

Several incidents have been reported, including the setting fire and shooting at five Tesla vehicles at a repair center in Las Vegas, a shooting at a Tesla dealership in Oregon, damage to another dealership in Oregon, and arson at charging stations in Massachusetts. The FBI believes that the perpetrators are acting as lone offenders who target the properties at night with rudimentary tactics such as improvised incendiary devices and firearms.

The FBI is urging the public to be on the lookout for suspicious activity near Tesla properties, as criminals may make threats online, inquire about security measures, take photos of security equipment, or attempt to gain access to restricted areas. A website called “Dogequest” recently surfaced, claiming to have compiled a list of Tesla owners’ personal information in an apparent effort to dox them.

If there is an emergency, the FBI advises individuals to contact local law enforcement or 911 immediately. They also encourage reporting any suspicious activities to help law enforcement identify and prevent further damage. Reporting threats can be done by contacting an FBI field office, calling 1-800-CALL-FBI, or visiting tips.fbi.gov.
