Texas A&M’s Mike Elko, Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin spar over night kickoff times

The Texas A&M Aggies are gearing up to host New Mexico State on November 16, in what is expected to be a lopsided matchup. However, one SEC coach is not too pleased with the late kickoff time for the game.

The game between Texas A&M and New Mexico State is set to kick off at 7:45 p.m. ET, which has raised concerns for first-year Texas A&M coach Mike Elko. The Aggies have already played three primetime games at their home stadium this season, and Elko couldn’t help but take a playful jab at Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin has been vocal about his frustration with LSU playing multiple night games at Tiger Stadium, while Ole Miss has been scheduled for early Saturday games. Elko jokingly suggested that he would be willing to swap primetime slots with Ole Miss in 2025.

“Another night game at Kyle Field,” Elko remarked during a radio interview. “We appreciate those. Apparently, that’s all we play anymore. … We get them all, and Lane [Kiffin} wants more, so that’s OK. Him and I, we’ll swap next year or something.”

Kiffin responded to Elko’s comments, saying, “Trade you anytime Coach. Not fair to our fans. Btw check out QB play and scoring at night home and on the road.”

The upcoming game against New Mexico State is crucial for Texas A&M, especially after their recent upset loss to South Carolina. With a bye week to regroup, the Aggies are determined to bounce back and secure a win. Ranked 15th in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, Texas A&M cannot afford to slip up this weekend.

Looking ahead, the Texas Longhorns will visit Kyle Field on November 30, with expectations of another nighttime kickoff. The official start time for that game is yet to be announced.

As the college football season heats up, Texas A&M and its coach Mike Elko are ready to face any challenges that come their way. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting season.
