Texas real estate agent’s companion in fatal Mercedes incident has criminal past

William Kistler, the 26-year-old companion of the Texas real estate agent who was fatally shot after an altercation with a parked Mercedes, has a lengthy criminal record that has come to light following the tragic incident. Kistler was with 28-year-old Ashlee Long leaving a bar in downtown Dallas on April 5 when the altercation occurred.

According to Dallas police, Kistler allegedly brushed his hand along the passenger side of a passing Mercedes as they were crossing the street. This action led to 34-year-old Kendrick Finch exiting the vehicle and opening fire on both Long and Kistler. Long later succumbed to her injuries, while Kistler survived the attack.

Finch, who has a criminal history that includes drug charges and burglary, turned himself in to authorities and is currently facing murder charges. Kistler, on the other hand, has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and is being held in the Collin County Jail.

During a court hearing, Finch’s attorney claimed that the shooting was an act of self-defense and that Kistler initiated the confrontation. The attorney emphasized the seven seconds it took for Finch to exit the vehicle and argued that Kistler was reaching for a gun, leading Finch to defend himself.

Kistler’s criminal history includes several misdemeanors, such as theft and assault causing bodily injury to a family member. He is also involved in two ongoing legal proceedings, including a felony charge for burglary of a habitation.

Ashlee Long’s father, Henry Long, has called for justice for his daughter and stated that Finch should remain behind bars permanently. He emphasized the pain of losing a child to gun violence and the impact it has had on their family.
