Theft of power tools leads to charges for man in Middleton, N.S.
MIDDLETON, N.S. — One man has been charged with theft after $520 worth of power tools were stolen from a Middleton, N.S. business on Nov. 23.
Annapolis District RCMP were called to a robbery at a Commercial Street establishment after reports of a man walking into the store and gathering the tools before leaving the store on foot without paying.
Several employees and community members followed the culprit until Mounties arrived and, with the help of police dog services, located the suspect on the northern bank of the Annapolis River, roughly 950 meters from the store.
Police said the man resisted arrest and suffered minor injuries as a result of the struggle with a police dog.
He was eventually arrested without further incident and the stolen power tools were found nearby.
The man was later released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Annapolis Royal provincial court on Jan. 15, 2024.
