Third adult charged in relation to stabbing death of teen in Halifax

A third adult has been implicated in the tragic homicide of a 16-year-old boy outside a Halifax mall earlier this year. The 44-year-old woman was taken into custody on Wednesday for allegedly providing false information to investigators and aiding the accused in evading arrest, as announced by Halifax Regional Police in a press release on Thursday.

According to police, the woman is set to make an appearance in Halifax provincial court on Friday to face a charge of accessory to commit an indictable offense. The victim, Ahmad Al Marrach, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital after being stabbed in a parking garage of the Halifax Shopping Centre on April 22.

Initially, four teenagers – three boys and a girl – were charged with second-degree murder in connection to Al Marrach’s death. Their identities have been withheld from publication.

In a significant development, two of the teenagers have entered guilty pleas to manslaughter. The 17-year-old will receive sentencing in February following a psychiatric-psychological evaluation, while the 14-year-old will await sentencing next year. The remaining two accused are still facing second-degree murder charges and are scheduled to stand trial next year.

In a separate legal development, two additional adults, a 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, were charged in August with one count each of accessory to commit an indictable offense.

This case has brought immense sadness and shock to the Halifax community, and as the legal proceedings continue, justice will hopefully be served for Ahmad Al Marrach and his loved ones.
