Moving forward, Talach said he hopes the lawsuit will shine a light on the mental health impacts of working in organizations that deal with trauma, and prompt changes in how employees are supported.

\”Stephen is just one of many people who are out there doing these kinds of jobs,\” Talach said. \”And they\’re not getting the support, they\’re not getting the training, and they\’re not getting the rotation out that they need in order to be mentally healthy.\”

For Greensides, the road to recovery has been long and difficult. He continues to see a psychologist and take medication to manage his conditions. He spends his days caring for Belle, his loyal dog, and finding small moments of peace by rubbing a smooth stone between his palms.

Despite the challenges he faces, Greensides remains hopeful that his lawsuit will bring about change and prevent others from experiencing the same trauma he endured.

\”I just want to make a difference,\” he said. \”I want things to be better for those who come after me.\”
