Tiger Woods-hosted Genesis Invitational to be relocated due to L.A. wildfires

The PGA Tour has made the decision to move the Genesis Invitational out of Riviera next month in light of the devastating wildfires that have ravaged parts of Los Angeles, including the Pacific Palisades neighborhood where Riviera is located. The tournament, which boasts a $20 million prize purse and is hosted by Tiger Woods, is set to take place from Feb. 13-16, but the new venue is yet to be determined.

One option being considered is relocating to another golf course that is already part of the West Coast Swing, outside of Los Angeles. This would help limit costs and the time required to set up a tournament site with essentials such as grandstands, corporate hospitality, and television structures. Despite being unharmed by the fires, Riviera and its surroundings have been deeply affected by the tragic events that have unfolded.

Tiger Woods, who has close ties to the area, expressed his sadness over the situation, emphasizing that real-life issues take precedence over the tournament. He mentioned that efforts are being made to ensure the safety of everyone involved and to assist those who have been impacted by the wildfires.

The PGA Tour is working closely with title sponsor Genesis, Riviera Country Club, and TGR Live to find a suitable new venue for the event. An announcement regarding the new location is expected in the coming days.

In the midst of the crisis, the tour is also looking for ways to support the Los Angeles community and the ongoing relief efforts. Riviera, a historic club that has hosted prestigious events such as the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship, is scheduled to host the U.S. Women’s Open for the first time in 2026, as well as the golf competition for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
